It’s referred to as reverse back-in-parking. It is exactly what it says it is. Instead of turning head-lights first into a parking spot you drive beyond that spot like you would when parallel parking, signal and back up into your parking space. The reason? They say it’s safer for children to exit a vehicle. Instead of them exiting where they’re closer to a main road or intersection, with back-in-parking the end of the car is close to the sidewalk further away from speeding traffic.
My colleague and I went out to test the new concept to see how easy it is and what happens when it’s rush hour or traffic is at its peak. Watch the video.
