Snowy owl has long flight to recovery

Omaha owl rescue

A rare snowy owl has found herself a bit lost in Downtown Omaha. Perched atop of the CenturyLink Center, many people took notice of the owl and began taking pictures. A few called Denise Lewis, an outreach coordinator for Raptor Rescue Nebraska, which specializes in rehabilitating birds such as these owls. Lewis said the young hatchling weight a little over 1-pound, when it is supposed to weigh nearly 5-pounds. She also said she was malnourished and covered in feather live, but she was “cautiously optimistic” that the bird would fair well in rehabilitation and would successfully be returned to the northern parts of the United States and in Canada.

Watch the video to hear from Denise Lewis and learn about the rehabilitation process expected for this beautiful owl.
